using clonezilla-live-1.2.13-8-amd64 installed on its own partition on a hard disk partitioned from sda1 through to sda15 on four main partitions.

I have recently found a problem at the end of a restore procedure where I am left with a blinking cursor … and have to manually  restart the computer .

at the end of the restore ,which seems to be carried out successfully  , it shows the following :

Trying to remove UDEV hardware record in the restored OS
The specific destination disk is : SDA
Trying to remove UDEV persistent files. searching in devices sda1,sda2,etc,sda15……….
    /dev/sda1…………..

now there is a blinking cursor and no further  procedure .

I have not had this problem in previous restores over the last few years.

Is it something that needs attention please ?

I have the same messages as nagatra when restoring an image to partitions. I'm using v1.2.12.67 amd64.
Then I have to turn off the computer manually as rebooting through alt+ctrl+del does hang too.

How about giving Clonezilla live 2.0.0-1 or 20120809-quantal a try?
There are some updates in this version, including linux kernel and udev, so that might help.

    Steven.

    I am now  using clonezilla-live-2.0.0-1-amd64

I am still experiencing exactly the same problem as my first post………………..

not a show stopper and the restore works fine , but interesting as to what is wrong.

Your great programme got me out of a mess this morning when a moments stupidity on my part let me delete half of a root's file system…………

thank goodness for backups and thanks for your work.

    regards

hello, im using clonezilla to restore a disk(1T) to a bigger one (2T). Im, supposedly, doing this:

If the target disk size is larger than the size of source disk of image, you can try to use option "-k1" which will create the partition table proportionally in the target disk and turn on option "-r" to resize the file file system in the partition automatically. This is useful to make use all of the target disk size.

But I have the same problem that pjnsmb...

Can you please help me? Im a total newbie in this

Which version of Clonezilla live did you use? It looks very old since I can see some aufs messages... I have switched to overlay for a long time. Could you please try the latest Clonezilla live?

      Hi Steven...
Please, forgive for my english.. Its a bit rusty... and accept a bigger apology for my knowledge on computers, servers and everything else. I just started to work with them this year, so its really poor.

Yes, I was using an old version. The 1.2.12 I believe, thats the one they gave me (I'm working with some servers at my job)

Let me explain my situation a little bit... I have the task to restore an image from a 1T disk, done with that old version of clonezilla, to a 2T disk. The server works with an array of 2 1T disks.
We want to gain space for the partition where the home file is.

I have tried the -k1 option on clonezilla, wich gave me the errors in the photo. I also tried to do a 1 to 1 restore and then use gparted. But I still have the same problem. All this using the old version.
Im going to try with the more recent one. I hope it works.

I if can give me any advise, I will highly appreciate it.

      thank you very much.

So did you try the latest stable Clonezilla live? Any improvement?
//NOTE// Backup important data before you use Clonezilla. Just in case.

    Steven
