Hey im currently a bit confused about cloning my windows 7 install.
At the moment the drive it is installed on has 2 partitions, one is 68GB (one windows is installed in) and a 6GB (just for stuff).
Heres where i need help, i want to clone the windows install to a new SSD that is 128GB, so just under twice as big as my old one.
I want to clone it so i can dump my old drive in a draw or something as a backup, but i dont want to mess this up, how should i do this? i tried searching but i dont find much info on my situation.
i dont care about the 6GB partition but if i did clone windows, how would i be able to use all 128GB of the new SSD space?
i dont want to clone it and realize i can only use 68GB of the new drive.
Thanks, Joytech22.

Thanks for trying Clonezilla! If you decide you want to maintain the 6/68 set up of the drive you can make a drive image in beginner mode (1.2.2-26) and when you restore the image to the new big drive, I believe it will proportionaly fill the new drive so, it'd be something like 11/117. If you really don't care about the 6GB partition you could just make an image of the larger 68GB part and then restore that to a new single partition on the new larger drive. When you restore a smaller parition to a larger one, under beginner mode, I believe it will fill up / use the entire new partition. If not, you can always use GParted on a Ubuntu live CD to expand the partiton.
If you are going to be re-imaging the disk where you have Windows 7 installed currently, it would for sure be a good idea to make an image of that entire disk in case you need to work backwards. I'm no Windows 7 expert so, I don't know what it might be expecting where.
Please, let us know how things go or if you get stuck!

I am having problems with Windows 7 partition. Apparently there is something different about win7 partitions. I downloaded alt. live CD. Booted fine. I have 3 SATA drives. Wanted to make partition-to-partition copy of my win7 boot partition. Clonezilla recognized the boot drive, but does not recognize partition on it. Meaning, the disk is present in all disk cloning menues, but in any partition-related menus I see only partitions from the other 2 drives. This is in part-to-image as well as part-to-part section. It might be helpful that some other closing tools like ghost 11.5 have a problem with this partition as well. It sees only 8gig partition on the drive whereas the actual partition is 230gig with 130 gig occupied. So, the question for experts here is how to make a copy of the win7 partition to another partition?
Thanks in advance.

Could you show us the partition table?
Or could you please run:
/opt/drbl/sbin/ocs-live-bug-report
in the clonezilla live prompt and post the created file?
