    Maniaczs - 2010-03-25

I've been using Live and booting off of a USB Hard Drive for a little while now successfully creating windows XP images on several different model computers. One of these models is giving me some trouble and I am not sure what to do. This is a Gateway E4000, P4 1.8Ghz, with 1.5GB of RAM. I have installed XP with all our Apps, windows updates, and ran sysprep. I can successfully create an image with Clonezilla, but I am unable to place this same image on another same model computer, or the original. When I tell it to go ahead and place the image it asks me to confirm, at which point I say yes. It then starts but quits right away. Here are the lines as it is showing them to me

    Creating partition in /dev/hda…
Non-grub boot loader found on /home/partimag/Gateway/E4000/hda-mbr…

If you want to use Clonezilla again:

I used to be able to create images successfully for this model but it has since quit working. I have tried several older versions of Clonezilla, different hard drives, and reinstalled Windows several times. The process I am using to image this model is the same for the other models, and I haven't had any problems with those. One time I was able to create an image of the partition vs the whole drive but that only worked once. I am at a loss as what to try next, any advice? Thanks

One thing I forgot to mention is that it has a 40GB drive, which I have partitioned for 35GB. Thanks

I just tried the latest stable with the same results, except the one line reads

/opt/drbl/sbin/ocs-functions: line 7550: /1/: syntax (error: operand expected (error token is "/1/")

Could you please describe the steps you have done to restore the image?
Or maybe you can give Clonezilla live 20100318-karmic a try…

    Steven.

Here is what I've been doing to restore an image.
Boot of the USB drive and choose the default video mode, English, don't touch keymap, and then start Clonezilla
    Choose Device-image
local_dev and press enter to to scan hard drives
choose the partition where the images are stored, and the directory, which is the top_directory
press enter at the file system disk space usage
I've tried expert and beginner with no difference in the end result, but beginner has all the options I need
    restore disk
    Choose the image
select the destination drive (only 1 drive in the computer)
press enter for the command summary
press enter for the "Creating a tmp clonezilla image…"
    press "y" to continue
    press "y" to confirm continue
then it starts and immediately exits with the lines I wrote earlier

We have uploaded another testing Clonezilla live. Could you please give Clonezilla live 1.2.4-32 a try?
Please let us know the results.

    Steven.
