I've got a USB Key that boots a particular linux distribution on it. I'd like to be able to run clonezilla from it, rather than creating a separate partition to boot from.
Is this possible? Shouldn't I be able to run clonezilla from any OS as long as the drive in question isn't mounted?

If you are sure the required packages are installed, yes, you can.
Clonezilla is actually a script program, and it depends on a lot of packages. You can find the dependences in /opt/drbl/conf/drbl.conf.
