My apologies, quick searches through FAQ on Clonezilla and google as well as here resulted in no information.

Absolute neophyte. My Win7 machine crashed on Friday January 17 after installing the "last" important update.
I am in th process of determining what is at issue but wanted to make a clone of my 1TB SSD to Seagate 2TB Exteranl USB HDD.

My Win 7 Ultimate machine is an AMD 64 bit and C:/ drive is an Samsung Evo 860 which is currently in an external enclosure .

The machine I am limping along with is an old ASUS netbook running Intel Atom 32 bit Win 7 Pro

The question I am trying to have answered is:

I want to make a Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit clone from the SSD (already removed and in an enclosure) to an external USB HDD using Windows 32 bit netbook.

what version and settings should I be using? the 32 bit netbook will have both the other hard drives plugged into it via USB 2.0 (should take forever). But do I use the AMD64 bit, or the i586 version of clonezilla.

Being totally new and desperate to protect data, what would be the recommended steps to safely clone the SSD before continuing to service it eithr by myself or an outside place.

Thank You your suggestion. Heck a step by step for dummies in this situation would be greatly appreciated

Obvious to me but not sure it was to everyone else is that I wanted the clone of the SSD to be able to be put onto the original SSD or another harddrive incase the repairs fouls up the original C: drive

Steven, thank you for the reply. I had already gone through all those pages and mostly understand the "steps". Not positive of all the decisions I am making and what all the terminologies mean.

My concern is that in trying to clone a Win7 64bit SSD (currently external) to another HDD also external (both 1TB) to use in an AMD 64 bit machine. (AM3 processor)

I have read that I should be using a particular version of Clonezilla to do such a thing....

      BUT

I will be using an old Win7 32 Bit Intel Atom netbook to do the cloning from one external SSD to another external HDD.

So I am not certain if I should be using the debian based version that is supposed to be used with AMD 64 bit processors, or because the the netbook that I am hooking the external drives up to is 32 bit Intel if I should be using one of the i86 versions?

I can think of possible reasons both ways. That is what I am trying to determine given my general ignorance to this process.

I also figured if you folks had suggestions to the process or tips I would avail myself of your knowledge.

thank You for your help as i am trying to resurrect my main computer (business machine, sole proprietor) and wanted to make sure I had a true complete bootable copy of my main drive.

First you put Clonezilla live on a bott media, you can follow this:

Then depends on what you want, for disk cloning:

You can try alternative stable one first, i.e., 20191024-eoan:
    https://clonezilla.org/downloads.php
If some issues, then try 2.6.4-10. If it's not uEFI booting, any CPU arch should work for your x86 machine.
