    Hi,

I am a new french and I would to set up a new clonezilla with a DRBL server but I have a problem with the network configuration à my linux clients. Normally, Clonezilla works with private IP address but I use public adress (by example 193.x.x.85, a class C network) ? How can I configure my clonezilla-DRBL server to work with public IP adress ?

    Best Regards
    Bmoscho

In Clonezilla server edition environment, the only public IP address you need is the uplink ethernet port in DRBL server. Actually you do not need public IP address for your DRBL clients if you just want to clone them. Is there any reason you need to use public IP addresses for your client machines ?

      Hi Steven,

Perhaps I don't have good understanded the mecanism of the DRBL server. I have already a DHCP server with public ip addresses  for all my linux clients... Can I use an another DHCP server with private addresses for my clients ? Did my clients find the dhcp server of the DRBL server or my existent DHCP server with publi ip addresses ?

      Best Regards

        You may refer to this:
        http://drbl.sourceforge.net/faq/index.php#path=./2_System&entry=37_coexist_with_existing_dhcp.faq

BTW, normally the DRBL enrironment is like this, two or more network cards are used in DRBL server:
        NIC    NIC IP                    Clients
        +-----------------------------+
        |         DRBL SERVER         |
        |                             |
        |+-- [eth0] public IP         +- to WAN
        |     (ex. 61.216.116.23)     |
        |                             |
        |+-- [eth0:1] 192.168.100.254 +- to clients group 1 [ 10 clients, their IP
        |                             |            from 192.168.100.1 - 192.168.100.10]
        |+-- [eth1] 192.168.101.254   +- to clients group 1 [ 10 clients, their IP
        |                             |            from 192.168.101.1 - 192.168.101.10]
        |+-- [eth2] 192.168.102.254   +- to clients group 2 [ 10 clients, their IP
        |                             |            from 192.168.102.1 - 192.168.102.10]
        |+-- [eth3] 192.168.103.254   +- to clients group 3 [ 10 clients, their IP
        |                             |            from 192.168.103.1 - 192.168.103.10]
        +-----------------------------+

      Hi,

I don't understand how my linux clients will choose either the drbl dhcp server (with private addresses) or my existing dhcp server with public addresses. Should I realize a special pxe menu or file ?

      Best Regards

In fact, my clients have public addresses to access to internet. This is a normal situation.

But when I will use DRBL/Clonezilla for cloning/restoring images, how my clients will contact the dhcp server of DRBL (with private ips) ? Only in pxe mode ?

      Best Regards

Well, as I mentioned, you can check this FAQ. It's not easy to do that at the moment.
        http://drbl.sourceforge.net/faq/index.php#path=./2_System&entry=37_coexist_with_existing_dhcp.faq

Great. Maybe you can share your experience about how it works there.
