I'm having trouble restoring a cloned image from one PC to another. I cloned a 256GB SSD to a 1TB HD and now it won't restore to another 256GB SSD. If I go through beginner mode, I'm told the destination is too small. If I go through expert and choose the skip size check, I get an error that it cannot find the SDA1 partition. I've edited the dev-fs list in the cloned image to point to the target SDX partition but I continue to get this error.
Also, when restoring the disk through expert mode, everything on the SSD gets erased and I have to re-install Windows.
EDIT: I'm using the latest Clonezilla Live Stable version and am using the disk-image option. I'll try to update with pictures once I reinstall Windows (for the 6th time)!!!

If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
I actually wound up cloning the partitions instead and cloning them to the smaller HD. I then made sure my target SSD had the same partitions and sizes and was able to restore and boot after ensuring the correct options were selected. I believe I need to clone the image to a similar size drive instead of a larger one if I am to restore the image vs the partitions..

Sometimes though the disk is shown as 256 GB, but actually it's a little smaller if shown in bytes.
So you have a chance to make it, please check this:

If you meant "clone", not "image", then yes. Or you have to use GParted to resize the partition, then clone it.
