I have used CZ a few times in the past few years without trouble..

Sometimes CD, sometimes USB stick.

I downloaded the latest iso, created a CD, booted.. looks good,

Select default entry, screen goes black, system reboots..

Tried USB, selected other startup choices.. nothing..

This is an HP mini tower, two drives, 500gig, 1.5 terabytes..

Running Ubuntu 12.04 64bit. AMD Athlon II X4 630, 16 gig ram

I just want to move everything to the 1.5t disk

Did you try different version of Clonezilla live? Especially the testing one:
