I have been trying to use Clonezilla SE for about a week now and it seems to work great in unicast mode. It takes forever for more than a few machines but it works.c In fact that is the only way I can get it work. I have tried multicast and broadcast many times and they never seem to work. I have DRBL server and Clonezilla server setup on the latest version of Ubuntu (11.04) and everything seems to run fine-it even shows that the multicast is starting on the server. The clients connect via PXE boot and everything seems to go well until it halts after going through a list of hardware on the machine. I thought maybe there was a problem with drivers or using the hardware itself so I tried it on another machine (different model) and the same thing happened. It showed different hardware of course but it didn't seem to matter.
I have even tried using the advanced options in clonezilla and disabled hardware detection but that didn't help. I am using a class C network for the cloning and an unmanaged switch. I am also using 2 NICs-one connected to my regular network and the other for the cloning network. I keep thinking I'm missing something but I have tried multiple tutorials from different sources and they all give the same result-no multicast. Help??? Thoughts???

3. Give DRBL live a try. Use that to do a multicast restore. By doing this, you should be able to see if the issue is on the hardware, the software or configuration.
Good luck.
Steven.

I had a similar issue, when it pauses going through the hardware, use Shift-PageUp to scroll up to see what the error is, usually it's been with the network card. I did some research and found the kernel module for it, compiled it, and followed these instructions to add it:
Just as an aside, I ended up going with Clonezilla Live Alternative as my Clonezilla mode (option 3 for Clonezilla mode when setting up drblpush) and have no more issues.

You can:
1. Check this:
http://drbl.sourceforge.net/faq/fine-print.php?path=./2_System/46_multicast_not_working.faq#46_multicast_not_working.faq
2. Use the unstable DRBL.
3. Give DRBL live a try. Use that to do a multicast restore. By doing this, you should be able to see if the issue is on the hardware, the software or configuration.

Brad,
Yes, thanks for sharing that. To use Clonezilla live as the Clonezilla mode in DRBL is another choice.
