Yes, you have to prepare a 32 bit OS on your drbl server to do so.
Since Clonezilla SE will reuse the files from the OS of your server, you have to make sure all the files, including kernel, lib, work for your clients.

I setup a Clonezilla DRBL server with Ubuntu Server 64 bit. I'm now trying to backup a server with a 32bit CPU and I'm getting the following error:
This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i1586 CPU.
Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU.
Is there any way to get this to work? Should I have installed the 32 bit version of Ubuntu Server?
Thanks!

I wish I would have thought of that before :-)
I figured out a workaround. I can use the LiveCD and connect to my Clonezilla DRBL server via NFS.
Thanks for the info!
