Hi, i have 3x identical(WD 750GB Blacks, same models) drives in raid 5 via Intel matrix raid. Power outage,  it blew up 2 PCB boards out of 3 drives. I'm able to move the good PCB board to the bad PCB board drives to get the drives working. So i went and got some identical drives (damn pcb revision changed, so i couldn't just take that) and i'm trying to clone that bad drives to to the new drives.

Using clonzilla live, I tried to do a sector by sector copy in IDE mode. When i change the system back to raid mode, the new drive doesn't seem to be detecting correctly; it just seems to hang.

How do i make an exact duplicate of my bad drive to the new(same model) drive? Is it possible? My end goal is to get duplicate copies of the bad drives so that i can bring my back my raid and recovery the data.

    As mentioned here:
    http://clonezilla.org/
RAID is not really supported well by Clonezilla…
    Sorry.

    Steven.

Understood raid isn't really supported. Is there no real way to do a 1:1 cloning of the drive? I tried the sector by sector copy, but it doesn't make an exact disk copy.

    Or did you try dd?

    Steven.

What do you mean by dd? Acronis disk director?

    "dd" is a program on GNU/Linux (or Unix), and it's a sector-by-sector cloning/saving/restoring program.
