I am using Clonezilla 2.8.0-27 (Boot DVD made from ISO) to back up my Dell OptiPlex 3040.
My configuration is as follows:
Dell OptiPlex 3040 SFF: i3-6100 / 8GB RAM / 256GB Samsung 870 EVO SATA 2.5" SSD
External: USB DVD Writer/Reader and External USB WD 1TB HDD
By using the external DVD drive to boot, I am trying to make an image of the internal 256GB Samsung SSD to the external USB HDD.
When I boot into Clonezilla I get this error message, below the "Welcome to GRUB!"
error: Secure Boot forbids loading module from (cd0)/boot/grub/x86_64-efi/part_acorn.mod.
error: Secure Boot forbids loading module from (cd0)/boot/grub/x86_64-efi/part_amiga.mod.
error: Secure Boot forbids loading module from (cd0)/boot/grub/x86_64-efi/part_bsd.mod.
error: Secure Boot forbids loading module from (cd0)/boot/grub/x86_64-efi/part_dfly.mod.
error: Secure Boot forbids loading module from (cd0)/boot/grub/x86_64-efi/part_dvh.mod.
error: Secure Boot forbids loading module from (cd0)/boot/grub/x86_64-efi/part_plan.mod.
error: Secure Boot forbids loading module from (cd0)/boot/grub/x86_64-efi/part_sun.mod.
error: Secure Boot forbids loading module from (cd0)/boot/grub/x86_64-efi/part_sunpc.mod.
What is this? Why does it appear? Is it something to be concerned about?
Further on in the process, it comes to the main menu screen where I will select the default option for Clonezilla Live.
Then it starts to boot into the back up process and the following messages appear (on a black screen).
/usr/bin/memdiskfind: cannot open /dev/mem: Operation not permitted [ 23.167371] systemd[1]: Failed unmounting /run/live/medium.
Starting to prepare Clonezilla live env...
Live media is in /run/live/medium
Updating /etc/ocs/ocs-live.conf based on kernel parameters if found...
done!
Then it boots as normal.
Can someone please explain what these messages are? Why do they appear and are they normal?
Will the errors shown affect the backup process in any way?
Additionally, I tried to backup up my system with virtualization switched off in the BIOS and it came it with this:
[ 0.081679] x86/cpu: VMX (outside TXT) disabled by BIOS
I have turned the virtualization on, and it doesn't appear anymore.
Do I need to turn virtualization on to make Clonezilla Live backup my system properly, or does it not make a difference?
Sorry if this a long read. I am just trying to better understand the workings of Clonezilla.
Thanks in advance,
Craig
