Used my disc with Clonezilla and followed all the instructions as usual. The clone reported that it completed successfully…
And yet when I try to boot from either SSD I get absolutely nothing. The computer thinks no boot media is installed and feeds back the error: "Please insert boot media and press a key".
Now… putting in a Windows 7 install disc turns up the result that there is data on BOTH the Source drive and the destination drive. Exactly as much data as there should be! (About 100GB full of the 128G capacity on the original). Of course I didn't overwrite either with a new OS, but it was an interesting way to test whether or not there was data there. There is. Clearly the error is minor, albeit enough to completely paralyze either drive.
What can be done here? What did I do wrong? Should I have partitioned the 256GB drive before cloning to it? I took it fresh from the box and plugged it into the machine I used to clone.
And then why would the source drive now fail to function? It still reads as having its data intact. What's going on here?
Again: I used the exact same disc about a year ago with 100% success. That's how I got everything on to my original SSD. And the one being closed to is the EXACT same type, just a bigger capacity. So they are definitely compatible.
Thanks for your help!

I have used Clonezilla before with huge success, but this time something went screwy.
-> SOURCE = 128GB Samsung SSD
-> DESTINATION = 256GB Samsung SSD

Which version of Clonezilla live did you use?
Have you tried the latest one, e.g. 2.0.0-7 or 20120822-quantal?
