Forgive me if there is a solution to this I have not found. I searched for quite a while and could find nothing.

Here is my situation...fairly often I am asked to clone a drive that contains errors. As Clonezilla runs and finds such errors, a message is written directly to the screen...if there are enough errors, the status display is soon corrupted or gone completely due to being filled with errors.

I would like to know if there is a way to refresh the status display and clear the errors away. I have tried switching to another terminal screen and back (ALT-F2 then ALT-F1) but that does not work. I believe there is also the option to tell the software not to display or check for errors, but I need to know if there are errors.

If there is no option to refresh the screen then I propose that is it would not be too difficult and if the developers of this amazingly wonderful software are so inclined, that the status screen be updated with a section devoted to displaying the errors so they do not overwrite and corrupt the status display.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.....hopefully I have just missed something.

In different virtual console, you could also check the log files in /var/log, like partclone.log or clonezilla.log.

    First:
Make a backup of your important data.
On Windows run: chkdsk c: [d:] /f [/r] (or so)
Take clonezilla and start Memtest86+ (it's for the RAM)
Can you make a look for the BIOS to check the voltages of the PC ?

    Then use:
clonezilla and an external USB-drive for the image.

Thanks for the reply, Fuchs. I think you misunderstood my post. I am not talking about any one specific clone operation but rather others I have had in the past. One example is cloning a HD that is dying a slow death. As Clonezilla attempts to read the drive it will invariably encounter errors and rather than display the error messages in a specific place, it just spews them across the screen. After this happens multiple times, the status screen becomes overwritten with error messages and it becomes impossible to read the statue information of the cloning operation such as the timers and the progress bar. You are left with nothing but a black screen filled with error text and maybe a few numbers in white boxes of you are lucky.

'..is cloning a HD that is dying a slow death.' > It's a hardware problem...(I have assumed that one)
