any chance someone can send me a link of instructions on how to do restore of an image to a computer i have saved on the network. when i am doing a test to save an image to your network folder. i am getting this error code. You have to check your CIFS server and find the log to see why your client fails to mount it.
Maybe it's permission issue, or you have entered wrong username/password...

i have entered my adminstrator account and password correctly i can ask my counter to try his admin account to see if we get the same error

CIFS is the samba service you have used. Hence you have to check the logs on the server.

    steve
just so i am clear that i am doing this right
after i select the samba server option,
    i choose dhcp broadcast next
i get an IP Address or FQDN of the server prompt then my machine picks up an IP Address
then i hit ok, i get a screen for the domain in the samba server
so i confirmed the ip of the folder where we are keeping the images saved on \sseldc1
is 10.11.18.22. i hit ok again. i get an account on server message so i use my admin account type it in hit ok. then i get this screen which i wonder if i am doing something wrong. Question at this screen where its asking where the images are stored. this is the location where i want it to point to

"i just need to confirm what is the correct path." ->The path depends on your server. You have to ask the administrator of your CIFS server, otherwise I have no idea.

attached below is the path where i have the image saved on the network and the clonezilla prompt asking me the path where the image will be saved or restored
can you tell me the proper syntax that is needed when i get this screen prompt
am i supposed to type the path in windows naming convention \sseldc1\departments\IT\NewImages or are the slashes supposed to be reversed //sseldc1/departments/IT/NewImages . This is really confusing

i seem to be beating my head up against a wall using the samba server option any of the other choices will be suitable on a windows network SSH SERVER OR NFS SERVER to make this work

My question here can i configure this version of clonezilla - live - 2.6.7-28- i686 to load windows 10 images I have saved on a windows network folder that are saved in this path \sseldc1\IT\departments\IT\NewImages. I can only seem to accomplish this process off an external drive

maybe you can humor me one more time if you see the screenshot
when i try to connect to the shared folder i am getting "mount error 13 permission denied"
is it saying by the text where it says mount -t cifs //10.11.18.22/NewImages" i do not have access to the newimages folder ? Is that what it means? and the attached screenshot it says check /var/log/clonezilla.log where is the file being saved ?

I suggest you find someone who is familiar with samba (CIFS) server to help you. From my understanding, your issue is on the server side, or you gave the wrong path, etc.
It's easier to ask someone near you to help you.

i was reading some of these threads they are suggesting using the command line which i am not good with especially since this who imaging process is new to me. Is there another option other then selecting samba which i can try to use configure this software to load the images on our machines off the network instead of from an external drive. Or can you recommend another freeware imaging software that i can try
    thanks

Definitely samba server can be used as a image repository. The issue you have is we do not know where went wrong with your samba server. Hence you can only find that by yourself. As I mentioned, I suggest you someone who is familiar with Linux/Samba service near you to debug with you.
As for other imaging tool, check Wikipedia:
