i looked for help on this in the forum, but i couldnt find any answers so i thought i'd post a question
using clonezilla live (downloaded last night) and burned to a cd..i tried to copy a partition (worked great)..when i restore it tho is my problem.
when rebooting you get the grub 3 2 1 then boots  (on my netbook not ghosted it just says starting) but on my notebook (cloned) it gives a splash screen (2) two times….which reads:

    Booting  'Ubuntu 9.04 Kernel 2.6.28.17-generic'
kernel /boot/vmlinux-2.6.28.17 generic root=UUID=b0d54fb3.(etc etc) ro quiet splash
        (Linux-bzImage, setup=0x3000, size=0x351510)
    initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.28.17-generic
      (Linux-initrd @ 0x378bb000, 0x734c01 bytes)

then sometimes it will go to another screen saying
    Reading Files Needed To Load
then lists a lot of syntaxes…they go scrolling by real fast

everything works great in ubuntu, thats not the problem, the problem is
    1) am i doing something wrong or
    2) is there a way to get it back to just say Starting

appreciate the help and if your wondering or not i got the Booting Ubuntu 9.04 by taking my Nikon and taking a photo of the screen it was the only way i could figure out how to capture the screen for you..lol

If the cloned OS runs smoothly, then you can ignore the splash issue. I guess it's because the grub in the stable Clonezilla live does not use the same patches as that on Ubuntu, so you might lose the original grub splash on your Ubuntu system.

If you really care about that, you can use Ubuntu live CD and rerun grub-install again.

    Steven.
