I am trying to make various Windows 10 21H2 master images of different sizes for the purposes of upgrading customer computers, and, more often than not, when Clonezilla reaches the image checking stage, there is a fairly consistent error - CRC, zstd error 36, or any other similar compression algorithm error - early in the C: NTFS partition, and often in the partition containing the factory reset backup. These errors appear across different computers, different brands and sizes of HDD and SSD, but almost entirely when cloning Windows; Ubuntu rarely has any problems.

So far, I have run Memtest 86 on multiple different computers, all of which passed. I have also tested both diskpart clean and clean all to the same result after installing one of our current master images using a hard drive duplicator or a known good USB master install. I am using version 3.1.2, both partclone and ntfsclone - the former most often - but have gotten the same result from both. I have also tried 2.6.4 and the most current Ubuntu version of Clonezilla. And disabling fast startup has no effect.

Most of the CRC errors are from hardware issue. You have checked your RAM, and did you check the CPU temperature?
