Hi, hopefully someone can give me clarification on if this would work, and the right way to go about it….

Getting 2x500gig SATA spinpoints soon, and would like to set them up in a RAID_0 as the system drive on Win7 x64

Currently, i have a 160 gig IDE drive as the boot/system drive.
    Motherboard supports hardware RAID.
I would like to partition the new sata raid set 200 for the system, 800 (or thereabouts) for storage

    So, would i….
Install new drives, set up raid, boot g-parted live cd, partition the RAID set 200/800
Boot Clonezilla, clone the 160gig IDE system drive to the 200gig partition on the new RAID set.
Remove old 160 ide drive and boot…hopefully all is well….??

Some things i'm not sure about…
Win7 has the 100meg boot(?) partition created at install, would i need to make this partition in the RAID set, and clone that also? (i'm guessing yes?)
How do i need to set the partitions (primary, simple or whatever)

I've checked the disk for errors, and its healthy, but is there anything i should be prepared for? or should it be straightforward?

I appreciate its not technically a direct Clonezilla related question, buts its in the equation, and any advice will be gratefully received.

    Thanks!

The "RAID_0" you mentioned is hardware raid, software raid, or firmware raid?
They are different, and you might have different way to make it…

    Steven.
