I've just created a USB of Clonezilla. It's the AMD64 version of alternative/Ubuntu, as my laptop is UEFI.
I'm trying to create a image of a partition on my internal HDD, and save it in a partition on my external (USB-attached) HDD. The first thing I try and do is define the destintion. I choose locally attached devices. I get a screen that lists both HDDs - all I can do at that screen is use Ctrl-C to close it. Clonezilla then lists all partitions on my internall HDD, but does not list any on the external HDD.
I'm sure it'sme doing sometthing stupid, but if anyone can help, I'll be grateful.
Thanks

Solved.
And it was not a problem with Clonezilla.
Acting on a hunch, I swapped the thumbdrive and the cable to the Ext HDD to different USB sockets. Bingo!
Bad connection? Who knows?
It works, so I'm happy.
:)
Enjoy Clonezilla.
