    Hi,

being a long time clonezilla user I've given a try to clone with one of
the latest clonezilla-live-2.3.2-22-amd64 an Ubuntu 64bit server
configured with LVM. It is first time for me with this type of
    configuration.

The server is using a RAID controller (LSI) to manage 4 2TB disk in a
RAID5 configuration. Total space available for ubuntu system in 3 disks
    ( /dev/sda, /dev/sdb, /dev/sdc ) is about 6TB.
Clonezilla discovered correctly the LVM system configuration and started
to copy from LVM logical volumes to an external USB3 disk at whopping
10.5MB/sec speed...too slow!!! It will take a week to copy 6TB!
I tried to boot the clonezilla disk and copy directly from the physical
disks to the external disk with a manual dd command getting a much
better 70+MB/sec..."only" 23h to have a full copy of the server.

At this point I tried to force clonezilla to copy the 3 disks from the
physical disks to the external disk with dd (bypassing LVM completely)
    but with no luck...
If I ask to copy physical disks, the software is always deciding to copy
the content of LVM logical volumes without any intermediate question
about what user (Me) wants to do!

    What am I missing?
    Is it possibile to copy physical disks ( /dev/sda, /dev/sdb, /dev/sdc )
    when LVM is configured?
Could someone give me an hint or point me where this type of usage is
    described?
...or which is the best choice in this context?

    Thanks in advance!

    Ciao,
    Gianni

RAID device is complicated to Clonezilla live. Therefore it's not easy to support that well. There is no general solution for Clonezilla so fat. Sorry.

    Steven.
