Hi,
I'm trying to clone 15 clients at the same time using CloneZilla Server Edition Live stable releases - 2.5.1-16. The images was created with CloneZilla Live stable - 2.6.7-28.
When I restore the disk image with an USB stick, the image is restored without any problems. I tried this in order to check wheather it works at all or not.
As I have 15 more PCs to clone I tried the server edition. Booting from live CD and configuration works fine, client booting from PXE works and as it comes to partclone, the process seems to start but nothing happens...
No error message on server or client side is shown.
I used multicast with 15 clients and would like to try it with one PC. Do I have to start all 15 PCs in order to get partclone to start?
Please give the latest Clonezilla live a try, e.g., 2.6.7-28 or 20200703-focal or even testing Clonezilla live 2.7.0-9 or 20201029-groovy: https://clonezilla.org/downloads.php

Hi,
as is said. I used CloneZilla Live stable - 2.6.7-28. Now it tried 20201029-groovy, but this version didn't start at all. I saw the "yellow/orange" CloneZilla screen and I was able to selecz "CloneZilla standard 800x600 (or sth. like that)" and then, after 3mins waiting nothing happend.
Clonezilla live 2.7.0-9 works fine.
I started the CloneZilla lite server and tried to clone 1 client. Server is still running, client boots from PXE and says: "switching to amdgpudrmfb from VESA VGA"
Maybe this is not s "stop-error" as I was away for 3h and after that time of waiting the client was cloned. Right now I'm still waiting and the message is displayed for 15min...
I believe it's releated to Linux kernel. So either wait for newer Linux kernel to be included in Clonezilla live, or try older version of Clonezilla live.

How come even unicast failed there... This is very weird...
I can not find why unicast failed there. Maybe you can find some clues in the log files under the dir /var/log/, like clonezilla.org and partclone.log.

I will need to do some further testing. I think the problem may be that the image is not correct for the computer I'm attempting to deploy to.
A note: I notice when I use Clonezilla (non-server version) it's much more forgiving. Both to capture and/or deploy an image. When I use the server version I often get MBR/GPT mismatch errors. This is the first time I'm seeing this error. Are you able to build Clonezilla to prompt the user for which version they wish to use and have the application make the necessary changes?
Thank you for the great product. Clonezilla is awesome!

I suggest that you can try Clonezilla live on that specific machine first, and if it works, use that on Clonezilla SE, as the above mentioned link. I believe this is easier.

Hi,
after 30min waiting the image was cloned successfully.
All the time showing "switching to amdgpudrmfb from VESA VGA"...

Hi,
okay, well, as it works it's fine for me.
Thanks for your help and developing CloneZilla
Sure, if you do not mind to wait for 30 mins. At least it finished the job finally.

Hi Steven,
I tried deploying an image using clonezilla-live-2.7.0-10-amd64 and ran into the same issue.

So the issue is always on multicast function? Did you try broadcast mode?
Steven
Steven,
I have tried multicast, broadcast, and unicast. The issue is the same.
How come even unicast failed there... This is very weird...

Actually Clonezilla SE can use Clonezilla live to run the imaging/cloning job in the client machine. Have you tried this?
