Hello, I saw in an old topic that the graphic splash screen will not be shown with a secure boot (if I understood it right) due to shim probs. When will this be fixed? Or which was the last version of clonezilla which is not affected (use old versions w/o this probs).
Thanks in advance

Thanks for asking.
Well, only when our upstream (Debian or Ubuntu Linux) supports that, we will have that.
Yes, this reminds me to report a bug as a wishlist in Debian. Those gurb modules used by Clonezilla live have to be signed, too. Only the upstream can do that.

I tried the efi-boot dir from debian testing on the clonezilla stick an then the graphic is nor problem (after a bit fiddling with the grub file). I wondered why clonezilla has probs withe the splash screen because I did not have any trouble with debian installers which is use very often, they all show the graphic.

Which Debian installer (CD) did you try?
Have you tried the testing one? i.e., Trixie? https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekly-live-builds/amd64/iso-hybrid/
(Clonezilla live is based on Debian Sid, and grub from some specific version has enforced requirement that its modules have to be signed so that they can be loaded.)

The nightly testing. But every installer in the last month from Debian (stable) has no probs with the splash. I copied the \boot dir to the clonezilla stick, the only prob I encountered so far ist tha the menue frame show incorrectly (some sort of question marks). But the rest seems right with the clonezilla splash.
I am no grub2 expert, i use this settings:
set gfxmode=800x600
set gfxpayload=keep
insmod efi_gop
insmod efi_uga
insmod video_bochs
insmod video_cirrus
insmod gfxterm
insmod png
terminal_output gfxterm

Update: The splash runs with clonezilla without modification exept that I commented out the if-clause for loading unifont-file, the splash is viible with the mentioned "question marks", so the error seems to happen when trying to load the file.

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, I was wrong. This issue was due to the grub key signing issue, but apparently now it's the way dealing with the font loading.
We have modified the font loading syntax as what Debian does, and now the graphic splash should work when security booting is enabled.
Please give testing Clonezilla live 3.1.2-5 or 20231214-* a try: https://clonezilla.org/downloads.php
Please let us know the result if you try it.
Thanks.

Maybe you can share the live iso file you modified so that we can test here?
Thanks.

Runs smooth! Thanks for changing it, looks great, will look to implement it in my script to build my clonezilla stick.
