The alternate ISO is not usable with secure boot enabled. The boot fails, due to it being unable to find the ramdrive (due to /dev/mem being locked down in secure boot mode)

    /usr/bin/memdiskfind fails...

Relevant parameters on the grub entry:
    linux /live/vmlinuz boot=live union=overlay username=user hostname=bionic config components noswap edd=on nomodeset locales= keyboard-layouts= ocs_live_run="ocs-live-general" ocs_live_extra_param="" ocs_live_batch="no" vga=normal ip= net.ifnames=0 i915.blacklist=yes radeonhd.blacklist=yes nouveau.blacklist=yes vmwgfx.enable_fbdev=1 noapic
    initrd /live/initrd.img

    Flash drive created with Rufus.

    Based on this ISO: clonezilla-live-20180812-bionic-amd64

(some settings are there due to initial panics on the hardware)

The cosmic version seems like it works.

It still gives the lockdown message, but booting continues.

OK, feel free to ask again if this issue happens again.
    Thanks.
