Yes, this might be a bug. For the partition which does not contain system files (/etc/*) should not be affected by this new feature. Could you please share the partition layout by running the following commands in Clonezilla live command line prompt
1. sudo -i
2. parted -s /dev/sda print
(replace /dev/sda with your device name)
Please let us know which partition is for /home.

since clonezilla-live-2.6.3-7-amd64.iso Clonezilla genrates sometime this file " /home/etc/machine-id"
I do not remember or can reproduce it for sure.

sda6 /home --- home, Debian 10
sda7 /sharepartition --- share windows linux and savefolder for clonzilla images
If i restore the cz image i get "/home/etc/machine-id".
When did the developer solved the problem?

This issue should have been fixed in Clonezilla live >= 2.6.4-7 or 20191016-*:
