could anyone help me solve the following "problem"?
I use clonezilla for my monthly system-backup (Linux/Lubuntu 18.04.2 LTS, 64 bit).
Therefore I perform a disk-backup of my HDD (3 partitions). As destination medium I use an external Toshiba HDD.
All works well but when I power off my system (shutting it down) the external Toshiba HDD produces a noticeable click sound.
As far as I know hard drives are designed in such a way that the read-/write-head will be transferred to a "parking position" outside the disk.
This probably accounts for the click. This is what I want to avoid.
I´m not sure if this click is produced because the external HDD is still mounted when powering off.
Could you tell me something about it and is there a way of getting around this "problem"?
Thank you so much for your help in advance.
Greetings
Rosika

To avoid the click sound of your external HDD?
I have no idea about that, since to me it's hardware design.
If anyone on the forum has any idea aboiut how to avoid that, please share that. Thanks.

@steven_shiau, This issue is now fixed as far as I can tell, as of Clonezilla 3.2.0.5. Thank you so much. I know I posted a thread somewhere but I can't seem to find it, asking for you to park the heads, and you have done it. Thank you so much. Good job!!! It's much appreciated.
