The Debian-based CloneZilla suspends when I close my laptop's lid. The Ubuntu-based version doesn't do this, but I need to use the Debian-based one.
How do I make it stop?
(Because someone's going to ask... I use CloneZilla for regular backups, and I started out using the Ubuntu version simply because I use Ubuntu. Booting from USB to back up was inconvenient, so I wanted to boot CloneZilla from my hard drive via grub. I never could get the Ubuntu version to work that way, so eventually I gave up on it and tried the standard Debian version, and it worked on the first try. So, anyway, if someone could give me a working grub entry for the Ubuntu-based CloneZilla, that would indirectly solve my problem. But I still think neither version should suspend when the laptop's closed, and I sorta prefer the Debian version now, so I'd rather fix it.)
Edited to add: Apparently only the previous Ubuntu-based version worked the way I want, as I just started a backup on another laptop using the vivid-based CloneZilla and when I closed the laptop lid, down it went, with the added wrinkle that when I opened the lid back up, the system came back on but the screen never came back. Though I haven't used the previous Debian-based CloneZilla, I now figure that the difference in behaviour is between the previous and current CloneZilla releases rather than between Debian and Ubuntu versions.

From the doc here: https://wiki.debian.org/SystemdSuspendSedation
Maybe you can edit /etc/systemd/logind.conf, and change
#HandleLidSwitch=suspend
to
HandleLidSwitch=ignore
then restart systemd by:
systemctl daemon-reexec
If you give the above a try, please let us know the results.
Thanks.
Steven.

Even better, I un-squished the fs, edited that file, and re-squished, and now CloneZilla behaves like it used to and I can start a backup, close my laptop lid, and go to bed. :)
Thanks for a great utility and for your help!

hi guys, I have a problem that appears to users MoTLD he was already solved, but my case is a little different
The problem apparently is the same, I cloning with DRLB server booting from a USB drive, and everything works perfect, but I do not use a laptop, I use a desktop pc.
how to remove the suspension?
and even try to configure the system startup without option to suspend the session, but does not work either
I'm using drbl-live-xfce-2.4.6-7-amd64 version DRLB stable and additionally use Lili USB creator to mount the ISO on a USB
I hope you can help me, thanks in advance.

My Clonezilla Live 3.1.3-16-amd64 dies when the laptop lid is closed. I need for the -distribution- to inhibit sleep, hibernate and suspend because I want to close the lid while not having to update OS settings every time I boot Clonezilla Live. Thanks.

I've decided, instead, to install Linux on a flash drive and install Clonezilla from their repository. Works perfectly. Plus, I can save information on the flash drive. Thanks anyway.

Did you mean your desktop PC will enter suspension? How come? On client or server?
Steven
Sure. The customization definitely could fit your need. That's the coolest thing for free software.
Enjoy.
Steven.

How about giving the latest stable or testing Clonezilla live a try?
https://clonezilla.org/downloads.php
E.g., 3.2.0-33 or 3.2.0-5.
