No

I receive an error that the running linux kernel in the current "stable" version of Clonezilla does not support ecryptfs filesystem, so I am unable to restore encrypted images as it does not even prompt for the password.

    current "stable" version of Clonezilla?
    clonezilla-live-2.7.0-10-amd64.zip?
    clonezilla-live-2.7.0-10-i686-pae.zip?
    or
    clonezilla-live-2.7.0-10-i686.zip?
Please let us know the exact file name you downloaded so that we can try to reproduce this issue.
    Thanks.

I specifically downloaded clonezilla-live-2.7.0-10-amd64.iso but it likely
also affects the zip version and possibly others as well

I can not reproduce this issue.
    root@debian:~# cat /run/live/medium/Clonezilla-Live-Version
    clonezilla-live-2.7.0-10-amd64
This Clonezilla live iso file was created by this command:
    ocs-iso -s --extra-boot-param quiet -y 6.03 -i 2.7.0-10-amd64
    root@debian:~# uname -r
    5.9.0-1-amd64

The progress I ran is attached. It works here.

BTW, make sure there is no other version of Clonezilla live on your system. Sometimes when live system boots might get the wrong squashfs root file system, and its /lib/modules/$kernel_ver is different from the booting one. Hence the module can not be loaded...
