I was upgrading machine with NVIDIA Quadro P400 and a 4K display. I tried clonezilla Live 2.6.3-7-amd64 zip extracted to USB and booted in UEFI and selected KMS from grub. It detected the display and tried to use the 3840x2160 resolution with the text mode selection for language in middle, but failed to draw to the right half of screen leaving it black, and there was some corruption on the left half. Continuing form language selection regardless the screen corruption resulted in increased failures. Hard to say exactly, but the horizontal position up to which it managed to draw may have been a little over half of screen, maybe at 2048 pixels.
I first experienced this with the version right before 2.6.3-7. I have not researched further to see which component might be having the limitation.
I managed to do what I needed by using lower resolution without KMS.
Have you tried testing Clonezilla live, e.g., >= 2.6.4-7 or 20191016-eoan?
