Previously used clonezilla-live-2.3.2-22-i686-pae to clone a Dell R730 server which has a PERC H730P Mini RAID controller. The clone ran through the USB3.0 porst to an external Seagate hard drive with no problem. Save and retore worked and took a could of hours for a 1.2TB RAID Volume.
Recently tried to backup the same system using new clonzilla on a USB stick again but version clonezilla-live-2.6.0-37-i686-pae. The backup was extremely slow and eventually after hours of saving, it failed.
I found my original clonzilla USB stick with clonezilla-live-2.3.2-22-i686-pae on it and performed a backup using the same hardware (Dell server and Seagate external driver) which had failed with teh 2.6.0-37 version. It worked fine again with 2.3.2.-22 after a couple of hours.
Not sure why there is a problem with the newer version.
Please post the error messages. You can take photos then post them. It's easier for us to understand where went wrong.
Steven
BTW, please also give testing Clonezilla live a try, e.g., >= 2.6.1-19 or 20190320-disco:

Hi Steven,
sorry for the delay but this is not an urgent issue for us as we can use the older version but I like one of the features of the newer versions so would like to contribute so that this gets corrected going forward so we can use the newere versions.
Please see attached zip file with multiple images from running the various versions.
clonezilla-live-2.6.0-37-i686-pae
clonezilla-live-2.6.1-22-i686-pae
clonezilla-live-20190409-disco-i386
All result in errors and the other thing is that you can see them noticably slow down the transfer rate as the primary (larger) partition is getting copied.
When I run our original version that we used and are now reverting to using, it works successfully and the transfer rate is high performing the clone and check.
That version is:
clonezilla-live-2.3.2-22-i686-pae
Also please note that the same hardware was used for these tests other than the failed versions of clonzilla were on a USB that I kept changing to try the test and the versions that works was on our original USB drive.
The same Dell Precision R730 with two 1.2TB drives in a RAID 1 (mirrored) raidset using a Dell PERC H730P Mini RAID controller (this can be seen in some of the screen shots when selecting the repository location) and the same Seagate External hard drive. The Seagate External hard drive has plenty of disk space. It is a 4TB drive and only half full.
Thank you,
Eric
One thing I'd like to know more is when you mentioned "failed", did you mean it's slow or?
BTW, why you use i686 version of Clonezilla live instead of amd64 (x86-64)? It's recommended to use amd64 version since your Dell r730 defintely should run with x86-64 CPU architecture.
