I downloaded the Clonezilla-live-alternative and follow your instruction and it worked perfectly. Thank you. Please close this ticket. I believe it would be a very good program if you can change the GUI a little bit. Thank you.

    Kind regards,

    hi there,
same problem (and error) but the option "-fsck-src-part-y" doesn't fix for me (shows the same error)
i used clonezilla successfully before to backup my centos6.5 .
since i installed centos7 i saw that error again and again.
    here is my background info:
    clonezilla version: clonezilla-live-20140630-trusty-amd64.
    partclone version: v0.2.70
    the machine: asus A550 laptop.

    trying to backup the partitions:
    1.sda5: 75.2GB - xfs (36MB used)
    2.sda6: 500MB - xfs (126MB used)
    3.sda7: 58.6GB - xfs (2.3GB used)

    on a 64GB (FAT32) sandisc disk-on-key which has free space of ~8GB

only thing that has changed is the OS im trying to backup.

    any help on this?

Please give the latest stable Clonezilla live a try:
    http://clonezilla.org/downloads.php
    i.e.
    20141208-utopic or 2.3.1-18.
They come with updated partclone which addressed the issue of xfs imaging.
Please let us know the results.
    Thanks.

    Steven.

thank you for your answer steven.
as i continued to struggle through this problem i changed my partition's FS to ext4 and tried again.
this time it didn't show the error message: "Failed to use partclone program to save or restore an image!" where it showed it before.
it continued untill the last partition (/dev/sda8)
    then:
    http://postimg.org/image/l30ufp471/
i don't know if this backup worked completely.

i also downloaded the new version clonezilla as you suggested.
version: stable releases - 2.3.1-18 (hope its ok too)

can you tell me if the last backup (ext4 partitions) worked or not?

No, the partition sda8 was not saved correctly.
It looks like that partition was not unmounted cleanly.
    When saving, choose "-fsck-src-part-y":
    http://clonezilla.org/clonezilla-live/doc/01_Save_disk_image/images/ocs-10-check-source-fs.png
and Clonezilla should run fsck to fix the file system integrity for you before saving that partition.

    Steven.

i did use the "-fsck-src-part-y" option.
i rechecked the sda8 partition and turns out its a swap partition and that i didn't even marked it for a backup.
either way, i think it is solved because sda8 is a swap partition anyways and shouldn't be backed up.
i don't think i will try the new version of clonezilla anytime soon (unless i will have to restore)

    i came back to update:
1.that sda8 was no swap partition (that was my mistake)
    2.version 2.3.1-18 (amd64) solved that sda8 problem
3.did version 2.3.1-18 (amd64) solved the xfs problem? - unknown because untested.

Steven, thank you for your help again.
    i really appreciate it :)

    LionOpeter,
OK. If you encounter any problem about that, please let us know.
    Thanks.

This is just for infomation. I had VM running on xenserver 6.5, and wanted to make it standalone. I used clonezilla: clonezilla-live-20171010-zesty-amd64, and I got similar error.
backing up with "-fsck-src-part-y" option fixed the problem.
