I previously reported a <cancel> button bug (3491047) in the partition saving routine. It was corrected (Thank You). The same issue exists in the restore partition routine. I click <Cancel> and I am told to enter a drive designation. It is identical.
Hope this helps.
Please let us know which version of Clonezilla live you use, and the steps you ran. It seems I can not find the problem here.
Thanks.
Steven.
Thank You for the quick reply.
Someone suggested I download the latest -42 and test but I could not find it. I could fine -58 in testing but I am not going to download any testing software for my production machine. I did find oneiric and I downloaded that. It said it was the latest.
The problem still exists and it is the same as the earlier bug.
On the page, "Choose the target partitions . . ." after Expert>RestoreParts if you click on <Cancel> the next page says, "You have to choose a device ..."
Hope this helps.
Thank You
Yes, it says "You have to choose a device! Do you want to do it again?", and if you choose "no", it will quit.
It's not a dead lock. Just want you to confirm again.
Steven.
Thank You for the quick reply.
The service is excellent. Please reconsider the Invalid resolution.
I downloaded version 1.2.12-58 and the following is from that release.
Your screen comments are not what I expected but if they are intended then that's OK with me. For me personally, I am used to clicking <Cancel> and at the most getting a message reading, "Do you really want to Cancel?" with <Yes> <No> or something like that. <Yes> exits the program and <No> takes the user back to the flow.
I went through one direction (restoreparts) of your script and I found numerous examples of <Cancel> button anomolies. It is a credit to you that no one in the past has needed to click <Cancel>.
Some examples in appearance order: (I have not used the window title because some are generic ". . . (OCS)"
Screen starting, "Do you want to start a device . . ." - <Cancel> - Normal message
Screen starting, "Which directory is for Clonezilla . . ." - <Cancel> - Normal message
Screen starting, "Click the mode to run . . ." - <Cancel> - Program terminates
Screen starting, "Clonezilla is free software . . ." - <Cancel> - Screen refreshes, no other effect
Screen starting, "Chose the image file to restore . . ." - <Cancel> - Normal message
Screen starting, "Chose the target partition . . ." - <Cancel> - Normal message
Screen starting, "Set advanced parameters . . ." - <Cancel> - appears to repeat/refresh the screen with less options (?)
I lost track of the screens after this but the effect of the <Cancel> button as I moved along seems to cause the script to move to the next page. Ctrl-Alt-Delete ended the script prematurely.
I realise that you use many programs and some you have no control over but if these anomolies are not what you had in mind when Clonezilla was built then I would be willing to go through a testing app and report my finding with all(?) the <Cancel> buttons. It will be time consuming but I am willing to do my part to help out. In payment, you can give me the next version free. :-)
Let me know?
Keep up the good work.
Thank You
OK, now I know what you meant. Basically we should give different results if non device is chosen, or if it's canceled. They should be the different cases. So it will be very welcome if you can provide the patch file, and definitely the next release will be free for you. That's for sure. :)
