Hello clisp developers, Identity: I am a second year B.Tech undergraduate student pursuing a course in Information Technology from NIT Durgapur, India. I was looking for joining some Free and Open Source organization through the GSoC 2017. How I got here? After searching for a while I found out three organizations to contribute to. But since I actually started it late(2nd March 2017) so couldn't concentrate on all of them. Thus settled on GNU Clisp as I was already familiar with C and a bit of elisp. Skills: I know quite a few languages among which C/C++, shell scripting, lisp, python are my strong points in decreasing order. I have worked on a personal C/C++ project hosted at https://github.com/Compro-Prasad/calc and also read a Clisp book written by 'David S. Touretzky'. Provide documentation support: I could also help to make the documentation a bit more readable on modern browsers and extend it if necessary as I have also written a decent amount of HTML and CSS. It would also be better to have the documentation written in org-mode and then export it to HTML for better results. My first contribution plan: Today I was thinking of making a '!=' function to start my contribution but thought it was too simple to start with and you could have easily incorporated it earlier without someone else's consent. So, left it thinking of it as a design restriction. Reading your code: I have learnt about some of the data structures and how to make a lisp function from C but since there are so many different definitions for each identifier I am a bit confused. Hope that gets clear as I continue working on it. Questions: 1) Where to submit my proposals? 2) What to use(Google Docs or Latex or something else)? 3) The people at "#gsoc" are suggesting to use Google docs for historical reasons. Will the proposals be checked by Clisp developers or Google itself? 4) Are you active on IRC channels or only mailing lists? 5) Where should I start? 6) Are the tasks on http://clisp.org/wanted.html mandatory? 7) Any questions? Yours faithfully Abhishek(Compro) Prasad |
