#305 2.37 cannot append to a file

No

While trying to build 2.37 for debian I noticed a
strange build failure: the debian/clisp.substvar file
contained NULL characters.

After investigating a little I found that 2.37 won't
append correctly to this file, while 2.36 will.

I made no changes from the last 2.36 release, nor are
there changes w.r.t the 2.37 tree.

I've attached a straight typescript, and strace output
extract for 2.36 and 2.37.

thank you for your bug report.
the bug has been fixed in the CVS tree.
you can either wait for the next release (recommended)
or check out the current CVS tree (see http://clisp.cons.org\)
and build CLISP from the sources (be advised that between
releases the CVS tree is very unstable and may not even build
    on your platform).
