Installing from Source Code

If you wish to download the code from SourceForge and install Clip and Share from it, follow the directions below. If you are not comfortable with this install process the main build in the Chrome Web Store provides an easier method.

  1. Download the latest version from the Downloads page.
  2. Extract the .ZIP archive into a folder of your choice.
  3. Click on the "wrench" menu in Google Chrome and then select "Settings."
  4. Click "Extensions" on the sidebar.
  5. Make sure that the box in the upper-right corner marked "Developer Mode" is checked.
  6. Click "Load unpacked extension..." and point the browser towards the folder containing the code for Clip and Share.

Installing using this method allows you to make your own changes to the source code. For example, if there is a network that you want to see added that isn't available in the current release, you can add it on your own. This is not an options when installing from the main build, so DIY types may prefer this more advanced method.

To edit the source code, you will need to have a basic understanding of JavaScript/HTML, Google Chrome APIs, and a good text editor.
