Toggles for Favorites/Libraries (maybe even Homegroup)
Start menu and Windows enhancement software

Would it be possible (or along the lines of what boundaries you want your program to stay in) to make the visibility of the Libraries, Favorites and Homegroup items toggable ?
And/or to to change their positions in the nav-pane (like, waaaay down) ?
Most of this can probably be done via registry (or by disabling the services in the case of Homegroup), but that would bring some more "classic feel" to the explorer :]
Sorry. Like you, the only way I know to disable Libraries, Favorites, etc involves changing the registry and restarting Explorer. So that can't be done as an immediate toggle.
Just searched for some time to actually find that piece of info again... in the following thread, Noel Carboni (thank you!) describes the registry hacks:

To remove Favorites, change this registry value:
To restore Favorites to its default setting (i.e., so it shows):
To remove Libraries, change this registry value:
To restore Libraries to its default setting (i.e., so it shows):
The HomeGroup can be removed by Leaving the homegroup in the network and sharing center under Control Panel, then stopping the services (under Control Panel -> System and Security -> Administrative Tools) HomeGroup Listener and HomeGroup Provider and disabling their automatic start setting. Noel Carboni's post (see link above) is more verbose.
The freeware, Winaero This PC Tweaker allows changing this now: http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.213
