I wanted to add another shortcut to the SendTo menu on Win7, and trying to find its location was frustrating. I quickly found c:\users\<user>\SendTo, but it is a Junction Point. Junction Points seem to be second-class citizens, compared to Shortcuts... Shortcuts, you can right click, choose Properties, and find out where they point to; or you can click them, and Exlporer will take you to where they point. Junction Points give an error when you click them, and won't divulge where they point to.

Can Classic Shell help with this?

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/some-folders-have-lock-and-get-access-denied-even/3b703f7d-f71e-44f5-a540-0c9aa3a348ff?tm=1355328829816 gives a list of the common junction points that users might discover, for things that moved between XP and Vista, but that doesn't help with usability...

I'm considering making a set of shortcuts called "<jp>-real" that point to the same places, but then I wondered if Classic Shell could help with the traversal of Junction Points... allow a click on them to traverse to the target location.

    I don't have c:\users\<user>\SendTo
    Instead I have c:\users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo

Well, you have to turn on hidden and/or system files visibility to see it...

Well if it was possible, then it will be an amazing feat. But I think it can't be done? Shell extensions can't make Explorer traverse junction points or the famous Link Shell Extension (LSE) would have added it long ago.

Btw, I use shell protocol. It quickly opens whatever folder. e.g. shell:sendto

Thanks for the responses. The tip about the shell: protocol is good; if I ever read about the shell: protocol, I had forgotten it, probably because of no need at the time (because Junction Points hadn't been invented yet then).

I went ahead and made my shortcuts too, in case I'm browsing there.
