The feature still exists if you are using the recent programs list.
If you are using the frequent programs list then you can't do that. That's because the list is maintained by Windows. To clear it, open the taskbar properties, go to the Start Menu tab, uncheck the setting to store recently opened programs and hit Apply. Then re-check the setting and click OK.

Right click the 'Recent Items' folder and click the 'Clear recent items list' menu item.
With the latest version 3.5.0 you can right-click in the recent programs area and select "Clear recent items list" to clear all recent programs.
