Ok, one of the most annoying things about Windows 7 is that I can't set my default view once and never think about it again. Would be a great option as I've read many others are not happy with it.
Are you talking about the Windows Explorer view? In Windows 7, the view which you set by clicking "Apply to all folders" from Folder Options is applied per canonical folder type. That is, you need to set the view once per folder type and do "Apply to all folders" each time for a folder containing general items, documents, music, videos and pictures (a total of 5 times). After that, Explorer will remember the view that folders of that type.
