1st,this is a very nice software,I like it,and thank U for made it.
At the EXPLORER SHELL in next version can add some funciotn:
at the status bar,add the one select file's infomation:Create time,Company
name ......show that like the windows XP
If can ,I think I'll close the old details window...lol~

No, that is not going to happen. The whole point of showing the size in the
status bar is that it is fast and easy to calculate unlike any other
information. There are also technical problems that I don't want to get into.

@ftsm, the details pane already shows all of this information. The status bar
has added what wasn't shown by the details pane in Windows 7/Windows Vista.

Would it be possible to add the "refresh" button to the Toolbar in Windows
Explorer? I live by that button in xp. Thank you so much for the classic shell
addon for windows 7.

@jweff-h - Can you tell me why you use it so often? Before I even start
investigating if "refresh" is possible to do, I want to know if many people
will benefit from it.

@jeff-h again, I tried a few operations and can't find a situation where
"refresh" is needed. No matter what I do Explorer refreshes itself within a
second.
What kind of operations are you doing so that Explorer doesn't detect the
change automatically?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
@jeff-h again! There is already a "refresh" button in Explorer. It is on the
right end of the address bar, right before the search box. I don't think
adding a redundant button to the toolbar is a good idea.

Curiously enough this is one "feature" that's driving me insane in the Win7
explorer. Is it within your power to disable this automatic refresh in a
future version of Classic Shell?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
I'm sorry, I don't know how to disable the auto-refresh. I suspect it is not
something that can be done with a shell extension. Most likely there is a
registry setting somewhere that controls that.

Alright, thanks. It's unfortunate, it seems no one has been able to find the
way to disable it yet, but hopefully someone will soon enough.
Another thing that came to mind, as a former user of XP. Would it be possible
to have different versions of start menu? What I mean is, the current shell is
the truly classic one, but XP also had the default option, which looked quite
a bit like the new one, except for the functionality of the 'all programs'.
So basically, do you know if it's possible to retain the look and other
functions of the Start Menu, and only change the way the "All Programs" menus
open up?
Or maybe it's out of the scope of this project, it's after all classic shell,
not XP shell. :)
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
Well, the "new" XP menu has a completely different structure than the classic
menu. I will have to write it almost from scratch. That's A LOT of work for
little benefit (to me). I never used that menu on XP anyway.
Maybe somebody can figure out how to manipulate the existing Win7 menu and
modify how All Programs are expanded. They are welcome to use portions of my
code. It is open-source after all :)

actually there are quite a few things that i like about win7 -- the only thing
that i really mis is a quicklaunch... (with show desktop in it also)...
other than that its kinda nice... - could a quicklaunch be done as a plugin
(like you did with the xp- forward and back buttons)...
(kinda like the vista looks)...
if i could add that xpbutton-addon and a quicklaunch-addon to my win7 shell r
i would be briliantly happy...

The first google result for "quick launch windows 7" is
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/888-quick-launch-enable-
disable.html
:)
And the second result for "show desktop windows 7" is
http://lifehacker.com/5131803/get-the-old-show-desktop-back-in-
windows-7++kinda.
These tutorials are kind of old and there is a chance they won't work on a RTM
Win7, but it will get you on the right track, I hope.
HTH
Quicklaunch is still there, it just isn't in the toolbar list by default.
Check this for tutorial how to add it back in.

disable.html
Hah, two minutes faster than I was.
I can confirm that the tutorial works in RTM as well. :)
