It looks like you swapped the skin backgrounds on your Smoked Glass and Full
Glass skins beginning with v3.6.0. Was that done intentionally? I really liked
the old Full Glass skin. Any way to get it back?
No, the skins are not swapped. The only change in the skins is that now the
glass color is more saturated. This is to match the look of the Windows 7
Can you provide a screenshot with the problem?
Sorry for taking so long to reply.... Maybe this is what you intended, but the
menu look in 3.6.x is not nearly as nice as it was in 3.5.x. My settings are
Full Glass - Less Transparent.
Screenshot below is from 3.5.x
Screenshot below is from 3.6.1
Transparency is not nearly as slick as 3.5. Smoked Glass is closer but nowhere
near as nice as it used to be.
Whopps... wrong image for the 3.6. Below is the image I meant to post:
But did you try changing these settings?:
They now affect the glass of the Classic Start Menu on Windows 7. Try reducing
the color saturation, intensity or brightness.
Thanks for the tip, xpclient! I was able to make some tweaks to restore much
of the older look.
However, I still wish there was a way to leave things as they were, especially
for Windows 7 users. If (when?) I want the look of Windows 8, I'll do the
upgrade and deal with the interface changes, then.
The changes weren't done for Windows 8. The system color of glass being
followed by Start menu was a feature of the glass skin on Vista but not yet
available on Windows 7. 3.6.0 just improved it to make it available on Windows
The latest version 3.6.2 has an option "Reduce Glass Color" in the Full Glass
skin, which should make it similar to the old look.
