Yes, it does and this time I Watched out for the mouse and the problem
did not recur. Maybe Shutdown needs the Start as a link/Star as a menu
options? Starting as a link would probably prevent this.
Thanks

Can you confirm that the insertion point actually showed up in the

I think I know what is happening. If you move the mouse over the shutdown item, it will open after a while. Any key you press afterwards may activate one of the shutodown items.
The menu in Windows 7 behaves the same way. However the hover target is much smaller and much further from the search box, so it is harder to do.
Maybe as a precaution I can disable the hovering if the search box has the focus.

Hm, not so fast. This will break hovering for people who have the search box focused by default. I don't see a good solution at the moment that will work in all cases.

Perhaps, raise the default value of 'Delay multiplier for split buttons' far higher? It's the only setting that won't affect menu delay for regular hovering.

Is it possible that the mouse was hovering over the Shutdown menu, causing it to open?
Also, please export your settings to XML file and attach it here.
I used the mouse to place the insertion point in the search. I didn't
pay attention to where it went after that.
Thanks

I moved the LogOff item below Shutdown and added a separator between.
That may move Shutdown out of the way enough.

That sounds like a good idea!
