No

When one first opens Explorer, the focus is on the detailed pane. If one uses shirt-tab to move to the navigation (tree) pane then the object which had focus in the detail pane appears to retain focus (is blue) and the object in the tree pane which actually has focus is also blue. This makes it easy to navigate to the wrong place via arrow keys, etc.

Also (I've seen this reported elsewhere) when one uses a shortcut like:

%windir%\explorer.exe /n,/e,c:\

for XP Explorer, focus is initially on the drive indicated (c:) in the navigation/tree pane. In the Classic Shell version, focus is in the detail pane and one must use shift-tab to get back to the navigation pane.
