Ivo, I wonder if you could do this one, because it is the one remaining thing driving me nuts in Windows Explorer.

I migrated from XP to 7. In XP when you opened Winodws Explorer, the selected control was by default in most cases, the navigation tree. That was great because with 4 cursor keys and no need to reach for the mouse you could navigate to the exact folder you wanted.

In Windows 7 the initial focus has changed, and it now starts in the files/contents pane. The tree is easily navigated but you have to first click to activate the pane, or reach for CTRL-TAB.

If the next version of classic shell could iunclude an option to have the old behavior, where new Windows Explorer panels start with the focus in the navigation pane, I would be at peace with the world and incredibly happy.

This change to the shell slows me down every single time I use Windows Explorer, because almost every time, the first thing you always do after opening is to navigate to your folder and it was so fast to do that with one hand and keyboard only. In XP this was WIN-E and then up down left right. Easy as heck :)

Thank you if it's possible!

Are you familiar with AutoHotkey? If you can create a simple AHK script that sends Shift+Tab to the Explorer window when it is started and compile it as an EXE to run at startup, your problem will be solved.

I'm not really a coder. I would just like the shell to have the option to work like XP's did, and I'm reluctant to run yet another package full time, just to get one key press in the shell.

If Classic Shell were to allow this behavior as XP's Windows Explorer did, I'd be an incredibly happy person!
