In my start menu, I have added a shortcut to "My Computer" to easily browser my drives. CS accepts the shortcut and I am able to browse my drives. But when hovering over E: (my dvd drive) without a disk inserted, causes CS to crash explorer. Happens every time.

I have also had spurios other explorer crashes happen with CS installed, but so far I have not been able to see why.

    The crash happened on Vista64.

I had to uninstall CS as the crashes kept coming. Also, my Firefox would freeze up when trying to enter a bug report here with CS loaded. I can't understand the connection, but with CS uninstalled, Firefox acts normal.

Now I am stuck with the Menu bar always visible in Explorer. Disabling will not hide the menu bar anymore. Not sure what to do to hide it now.

Sorry for getting back to you so late. I just noticed your post today. I need to find a way to subscribe to this forum to get email notifications when there is something new.

The crash you are experiencing will be fixed in the next version. I hope to upload it within the next hour.

I can't explain the interaction between CS and Firefox. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Internet Explorer because it shares plugins with Windows Explorer, but Firefox is not supposed to be affected.

I think I know why you can't hide the menu bar after uninstalling CS. Explorer still thinks the toolbar is enabled even though it is uninstalled. I don't know where in the registry it keeps the list of enabled toolbars so I can clean it up on uninstall. To solve the problem, install Classic Shell again, make sure the toolbar is hidden (show it and hide it to reset the state for sure). Then uninstall CS. Log off, then log in. This worked for me. I will add this to the uninstall instructions.

If you uninstalled Classic Shell's Explorer component and the menu bar still remains visible in Explorer, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\ShellBrowser and delete the ITBar7Layout value there. If you have no other toolbars installed, then the menu bar will get hidden. If there is at least one toolbar installed, the menu bar will show.
