Using classbuilder under Linux

I recently tried to install CB and run it with Wine, the installing went great, then it died on some icons it could not retrieve from the resources.

That triggered again my thoughs about what was going on for quite some while ago (2002 - 2003?) which was porting CB to linux. Plans were made to completely reverse engineer the whole wxWidgets library, and now that I have been using wxWidgets in my daily projects I wonder if that would have been the right way to go.

Would it maybe be better to get it working under Wine first?  That would already suite my needs as I really miss CB now that I see that I lose oversight on my classes rather easily when there are no diagrams, plus the relations CB maintains between my classes are one of a kind. There have never been a better tool for it.

So, how difficult is it to get it working under linux and what options are there (besides using a Virtual Machine running Win XP & CB under linux) ?

I am glad it is still alive and picked up by other people if there is an isolated area that only needs porting, I have been using wxWidgets for 3 years now and I might be able to help speed things up as this is one tool that really should be revived from the ashes ...

    Regards,

Since I have very little experience in Linux, I can't be of much help. What I understand from the WineHQ web site, it should be possible to run Visual Studio 6 under Wine and use the debugger to find the resource problem.

Well I have found that the latest Wine does more then earlier. I can start Classbuilder with no problems, and do some editing. The edit controls sometimes behave odd, and after a code readback message is triggered, it hangs. So in that respect it is pretty useless (unless I can supress the auto read back message).

So, I hope the latest Wine will make it better. In the meantime, I will use VMware or Windows. When I ever get the time maybe I can help porting it.
