I have no idea whether clammail does anything at all. So far
all I see is it's looks pretty in the systray. It would be
nice if it let you know when it scans email. Also a test
file with a benign virus would be nice just to see that it
    actually does work.

Are you wanting to automatically alter established accounts
in TB to chain through Clammail?

I'm not positive but I believe TB names account folders for
it's own usage according to the server name provided in the
account's server settings. You could be opening a can of
worms if you start changing server settings without TB being
    actively involved.

I'll work up a little script to see if I can alter current
accounts on a test box successfully and try to figure out
exactly what needs to be done. Unfortunately, I will not be
available for the next 4 days but can work on it after that.

I'll also do some inquiries with the TB developers.

    Curt

    annajames350,

You might want to consider this to be a dead project. There hasn't been much happening with it in quite a while. When it was current it was quite slick but lots has happened in the world of viruses and Clamav since and ClamMail has not kept pace .... to my knowledge.

As for a benign test file, the eicar test file is pretty much the internet standard for safe testing of anti-virus solutions. You can google "eicar" and probably come up with the home page to download the file. Or you can simply copy and paste the following into your favorite text editor and save it as a simple text file.

    X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

Send the file as an attachment. Your anti-virus solution should detect it as a virus.
