Hi, Im trying to instal CK-Ledger on a Debian/Woody/Mysql/PHP4 machine. Im using the last phpgrupware .tar.gz version, not the debian version. PGW alone works fine. Then I installed CKL follow the directions, all is OK but he ledger Icon (the second icon, little notebook with the abacus) return me this error: *Database error:* Invalid SQL: Select * from defaults *MySQL Error*: 1146 (Table 'phpgroupware.defaults' doesn't exist) *Session halted. * * * *And indeed the table doesn`t exist * *How can I fix it?* * Thanks in advance. * *MM * |

The reason why I maintain CK-Ledger as a separate project, is explained in a email that I posted to ck-...@li..., php...@gn... and php...@gn... on Feb 16, 2002. One of the design philosophy of CK-Ledger is to allow each module, maximum self-sufficency, therefore, feature depulication is perhaps a natural consequence. >They have the same login. Hello everyone, Ck ledger is a great piece of software. But i would like to ask something. First: Its an addon for phpgroupware, but is it integrated? PHPGW has its own inventory module, You have to recreate your own vendors while you still have them in your addressbook. The projects in Ck are not taken from phpgw project module. They have the same login. I would appreciate if you could let me know about other common features? Secondly, Is there a person who would be willing to contract the coding of a mod of CK's ledger software? I need a more project oriented approach. Of course it is open to CK firstly... Others? Perhaps I'll take this opportunity to explain why the index page is written as it stands. It is my firm belief that users of open source software should choose to use such software knowing fully the risk involved. If they do pay to have a system integrator (SI) to install the software for them, then they are paying for the SI's installation service, not the software itself. So, they need to be informed of the fact that the software comes with no warranty, bugs are inevitable, etc, etc, ..... If the SI provides any post-sale service, or any guarantee thereof, it should be stated in a separate document. If the index page appears scary, it is meant to be so. I would also like to highlight one of the conditions listed on the index page, "??? is GPL software. If you display this -- Welcome to ??? -- page exactly as it is, or display this same page's translation (into a different language), without loss of meaning, then you may redistribute and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation." If you are re-distributing CK-Ledger and/or selling any product derived from the CK-Ledger source code, this requirement is a condition that you must abide by. If you don't, it is a SERIOUS BREACH of CK-Ledger's distribution license. Cheers, CK Assured Computing ??: >Hi, > >Is there a flag that can be set to turn off the warnings below: >User/Administrator* Auditor* Developer* > >on each of the module screens? The abacus logo of CK-Ledger is located at <phpgw_root>/ck-ledadmin/logo.png. You could slot in your own logo into this file to achieve the desire effect. Hi, Is there a flag that can be set to turn off the warnings below: User/Administrator* Auditor* Developer* on each of the module screens? When I install CK-Ledger for clients, I'm doing it so they understand that if there is a problem or question, they come to me. As it stands, it's a little scarey. One option would be to have a flag in Ledger Admin to change it to a HowTo. Howto enter a transaction. Howto print an invoice. Howto Reconcile the checkbook. Etc. Thanks -- Assured Computing When you need to be sure. as...@as... www.assuredcomp.com Eugene, Oregon |

Hello, folks, It may interest you to know that the Nov 2003 issue of a Chinese magazine, Linuxpilot, carries an article on 'Linux Accounting Software'. In this article, both SQL-Ledger and CK-Ledger are described. However, you would need to be able to read Traditional Chinese to understand what it says. Cheers, CK |

Hi Derrick, Look like you have not granted the 'webserver' user the required access right to your database 'matrixu_gw'. Just getting it off the top of my head, the required mysql command would look like, mysql -e "grant all on matrixu_gw.* to matrixu_gw@localhost identified by ''" matrixu_gw For more detail, go to www.phpgroupware.org to review their installation guide. Hello, J L, Thank you for checking out CK-Ledger. To get over this error, you simply need to add a recurring salary component that is named 'basesalary'. A simple way to study what happens, is to re-install a fresh set of test data. Then instead of adding a new staff payroll record, copy an existing staff payroll record and cut away the recurring salary components, one by one. That way, you would understand the behavior of the system a little better. Cheers, CK J L Kolpin ??: > *Error: Recurring (basesalary) Missing* > ** > *I don't understand what I need to do to stop getting this error while > creating a user's salary. Subject: [CK-Ledger-users] CK-Ledger v.0.7.3 released Hello, folks, I have posted a new release, v.0.7.3, of CK-Ledger, at SourceForge.Net. New features include multi-currency for ap, ar, po, so and quotation; alternative cheque format; addition of IP address to access log; photo for inventory parts; price on inventory list; default creation day for invoice, po, so and quotation; drill down from billing history. Other bug fixes are also included. Because of changes to the underlying phpgroupware, this release of CK-Ledger will only work with phpgroupware 0.9.16.RC1, which in term, does not support older version of CK-Ledger. Also, because of changes to the database schema, data backup from prior release of CK-Ledger when restored to CK-Ledger v.0.7.3 will not operate properly. CK-Ledger (with 15 modules, Ledger Admin, Ledger, Bank Reconciliation, Inventory, Service, AP, AR, PO, SO, Quotation, POS for Cashier, POS for Manager, HR, Staff Self Service, Payroll) runs on top of phpGroupWare. Operating platform can either be LAMP or LAPP. It provides accounting and back office functionalities to SMEs and utilizes phpgw to administer accounts/groups. Please report error and suggestion to the mailing list, ck-...@li... . General history and expected development is available at the mailing list's Archive. Demo is located at, http://ck-ledger.sourceforge.net http://ck-ledger.gro.clinux.org Download is available from, http://sourceforge.net/projects/ck-ledger http://gro.clinux.org/projects/ck-ledger http://cosoft.org.cn/projects/ck-ledger http://sf.linuxforum.net/projects/ck-ledger Cheers, Wu Chiu Kay, aka CK Wu, aka CK (CK is the preferred alias) Hong Kong Best Regards, Derrick Lo --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Hi, I've been using phpGroupWare for almost 2 years now and have a ton of client and vendor info in the addressbook. What would it take to get ck-ledger 0.7.1 to talk to the addressbook. Not only would it save time in the transfer but would save maintenance in not double entry etc. This addressbook is currently feeding OpenOffice. Thanks Bob -- Assured Computing When you need to be sure. as...@as... www.assuredcomp.com Eugene, Oregon |

Hi all, We have found a couple of undisclosed security holes in phpGroupWare. These have been patches. The impact of the flaws are minor, but all users are encourage to upgrade immediately. All branches are affected and have been patched. For 0.9.14.0xx (stable) users: Grab a new version from http://phpgroupware.org/downloads or run a cvs update New versions will be propogated out to mirrors shortly NOTE: This release hasn't been tested on php3 0.9.14.5xx (aka 0.9.16RC1 / testing) users: Run a cvs update (this will include all new fixes including contacts) Wait for a 0.9.14.508 based patch to be available in the next 24hours (this requires some testing) HEAD (unstable) users: A cvs update will be available in the next 24hours Cheers Dave Hall |

Hello, folks, I am working on translating the installation manual (Last updated 2003-08-08) into simplified Chinese now. However, there is a mistyped word. In the 42nd step of the installation procedure, "live production" should be "life production", which means real life productive business environment. Cheers, Robert |

Hi, Bob, Thank you for considering CK-Ledger for your internal use and as a possible sale offering to your clients. Bob Crandell ??: >Hi, > >I'm trying to move my company's accounting from Quickbooks to either SLQ-Ledger or >CK-Ledger. I showed both to my secretaries. They chose SQL-Ledger. Or anybody for that matter? > Your request will be actioned along with other requestors'. All usual considerations apply here. Such considerations include ease of implementation, value of features proposed, existing development schedule, etc, etc, etc ... > >One of the services I would like to provide is to handle the accounting needs of >some of the smaller companies around here that are great technicians but are still >poor because they don't enter their time. Will this handle more than one company? > > Yes. it would. To allow better data demarcation, you could utilize phpgw's virtual domain feature. To allow centralised backup, you could use CK-Ledger's own attribute accounting feature. A more detail explanation is available from (ledger admin -> multiple ledger) . At the risk of antagonising you and other list members, I like to highlight the following points, a) As a standard rider, CK-Ledger is still in beta, so bugs are inevitable. This fact should be highlighted to your (potential) customers. b) CK-Ledger is designed for use by SMEs. Advanced features are, by definition, missing or to be developed in the very, very distant future. c) You may like to review ck-...@li...'s archive. There are a few instances, at which, I, effectively, asked the feature requestor to choose some other software instead. d) If you are selling CK-Ledger installation and/or support service to your client, you should be independently knowledgeable about CK-Ledger and its various idiosyncrosies and shortcomings. The public mailing list and CK-Ledger's existing user base should not be used as your consultant if you are selling CK-Ledger consultancy services to your clients. I hope I haven't offend you too much :-) . But these are things that I think you should be aware of before proceeding further. Cheers, CK >I suppose I need to sign up for yet another mailing list. > >Thanks > >-- >Bob Crandell >Assured Computing >When you need to be sure. >bo...@as... >www.assuredcomp.com >Voice - 541-689-9159 >FAX - 541-463-1627 >Eugene, Oregon > > > > >_______________________________________________ >Phpgroupware-developers mailing list >Php...@gn... >http://mail.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/phpgroupware-developers > > > > |
