Version 5a, the previous version, of the Smart API has been used in production applications, both in classic Java applications and Java EE applications. Version 6a, the current version, of the Smart API is ready for use in production applications, in classic Java applications, Java EE applications, Equinox, Eclipse and WebSphere applications. The controllers in 6a are based on production-hardened code.

So, it's not like we're starting completely over from a blank page with untested and unproven Java code. And yet, version 6a embraces OSGi. We have more unit tests. We have more confidence in the code that has been released as part of CjOS+OSGi.

How do we decide on a marketing version for what we're doing. Calling it version 0.0.1 doesn't seem fair. Calling it 1.0.0 doesn't seem fair either. With each version of the Smart API, we've retuned to calling it 1.0.0, which makes little sense. It makes little sense to introduce version 6.0.0 out of seemingly nowhere.
