Hello Dr. Chen,
I have installed 6.1.R1 and 6.1.R2 in a Mac computer, but it seems that remove duplicates with WOS records does not works well.
I obtain always the following message: The process may take a few minutes to complete. Please wait...
But nothing happens.
Is there any problem with these new versions?
Miquel
Dear Mr. Chen,
I have downloaded 6.1.R2 advanced version. But I think there is still a problem with the REMOVE DUPLICATES function.
I have downloaded two files from WOS. First file has 1-500 records, and second file has 501-954 records of a search.
I use CiteSpace version 5.8.R3 and I run the REMOVE DUPLICATES function and I obtained a series of files. I copy these files to the Data folder and I run the project.
If I use CiteSpace version 6.1.R2 advanced and I do the same proces of REMOVE DUPLICATES and then run the project. I obtain different results before visualizing the network. This is strange.
I attach a pdf file with the data I obtained with both versions. There you can see the different results I obtained
Could you confirm if is there a proble with REMOVE DUPLICATE function? Or Am I doing something wrong?
Yours
Miquel A.
Thanks for checking. Could you share with me the following data files:
1. the original data
2. the one processed by 5.8.R3
3. the one processed by 6.1.R2
I will look into this.
Hello,
original data are these two attatched wos files.
I copy both wos files in a folder for version 5.8.R3 and then I run
the REMOVE DUPLICATE function and the resulting files are saved in
another folder. Then I copy these resulting files as normal in a Data
folder for a project.
I do this again in different folders for version 6.1.R2.

Can I send you to your email?

I have checked your data files. The duplicate identified in 6.1.R2 is indeed a duplicate from WoS (see the side-by-side comparison of the two records). They have the same DOI, but different UT. I've updated CiteSpace Advanced. You can try it. You may want to select all the available document types on the Duplicate Removal, i.e. Ariticle, Review, Editorial, Letter, and Proceedings. Book Reviews are excluded.
O.K. Thanks. I can understand this.
But there is another problem. Once I obtain the unique files after removing duplicates, I copy these unique files into the DATA folder of my project in order to run it and obtain a network.
So what I see is that with version 6.1.R2 far fewer records are recognised than with version v5.8.R3.
With v5.8.R3 CiteSpace recognises 879 Records in the dataset, but v6.1.R2 (update 5/4/22) only recognises 483
See attached table
I think I found the problem. WoS uses an extra layer of grouping on top of the original comma separated fields for references with Chinese origin (maybe other non-English languages as well). Here is one example:
[杜傲 Du Ao], 2020, [生态学报, Acta Ecologica Sinica], V40, P7231
I will make a new version available for this over the weekend.
Many thanks Dr. Chen. Sorry for my delay in answer you. I have had some health problems last weeks.
I have run v6.1.R2 (update 5/19/22) and it seems that now it works ok.
Thanks
Miquel
