Dear Dr. Chen,
I have been working with v5.7.R2 these last two days, but this morning it doesn't works.
When I try to open file CiteSpaceV.jar I get this message three times
TIMEOUT. KEEP TRYING? YES/NO
I always accept YES, but the third time I get the message
I have tried that version earlier and tried again after your post. However, no luck. Every time I try to install 5.7.R5W or any other earlier version, a window appears (please see the attachment). What should I do now? I am using win 7 (64 bit).
Finally, I got rid of this problem by changing my internet connection. Instead of using wifi (that uses shared IP) connection, I am now using mobile data connection and it works fine.

I installed both version (5.7.R2 and 5.7.R5W) in separate PC. Both works fine, though I am not completely sure whether all parameters/outcomes are same across two versions.

Dear Professor! I'm trying to install Cite-space since 2 days but this problem happen again again even i change my internet and try to install different laptops. I even tried with different laptops and desktops. However, no luck.
The 2 images show different issues. aqib.png: the issue is with the network you were using, i.e. CiteSpace cannot verify your version. Try it again at different time or try different networks. ct.jpg: you made more progress than the first one, but some files are missing from the installation. You can follow the 2 step instructions.

I guess you are expecting a response from Dr. Chen.
However, as I encountered just the same issue, I can share my own experience. The procedure you have followed is probably okay. One more thing I noticed in my case is that CiteSpace was constantly being failed to install in the OS that already has some other statistical softwares (e.g. AMOS, SmartPLS).
However, I am just a beginner and my case might not hold true for you, but you can try it!
Thanks!

Hi, I have the same problem. One of my students have the same problem. We couldn't open CiteSpace successfully even though we deleted .citespace file and restarted CiteSpace 5.7.R5. I also swithed to differnt Internet, it worked ocassionally but then failed again. I tested in differnt computers and it's very unstable.
confirm that version 5.7.R5W is the most recent version (from 3/11/2021)
indicate what the 'authoritative' download-site now is? I thought you had switched to https://citespace.podia.com/, but I also see this 5.7.R5W version on sourceforge - under a folder that's called 5.7.R5 (so without the W)
explain why those of us running 5.7.R5W are getting the 'New version available', and what we are supposed to do about it?

5.7.R5W is a stable version. You can ignore newer versions for now. They are subject to changes at a possibly unpredictable pace, depending on my 'free' time. I will create a table to summarize new features in new versions.
The authoritative download site is citespace.podia.com. Sourceforge is maintained to a lesser extent for those who are not aware of the new site. If you get into the folder you will see the file names also have the 'W'.

A new version 5.7.R5W is available. The burst history visualization is back to normal. I expect this version will be stable for a while.

Have you tried to follow the two steps: remove the .citespace folder and launch CiteSpace?
Yes, I did.

Glad it works. Thanks for the feedback!
Having same issues.
Dear Dr. Chen,
Please help us here with 5.7.R2 version. Can't open or install it.
Dear Dr. Chen,
I have installed 5.7.R5W and it works well for me now.
Is there any possibility to run an earlier version (as 5.7.R2) despite one have installed also the latest version (5.7.R5W)?
I installed both version (5.7.R2 and 5.7.R5W) in separate PC. Both works fine, though I am not completely sure whether all parameters/outcomes are same across two versions.

I used another internet source for the installation of the new version. Now
it's working fine. Thanks, Pro. Chen for your kind response.

I hope there is a solution for this problem.

I am investigating these issues. In the meantime, try it at a different time or with a different internet connection.
I am having problems as well -
. Can you please
